Below is a very positive review of James’ album “Undiscovered” from an American website, livedaily. It seems like James is already making a great impression over in the states.

In James Morrison “Under the Influence,” the opening track of his debut “Undiscovered,” he sings, “Once you’ve had a taste of it, there’s no going back.” The same could be said for the album.

Morrison possesses a rough, soulful voice that emanates ’70s soul (think Stevie Wonder) in songs such as “This Boy” or “If the Rain Must Fall.” Harmonicas, horn sections and hand claps fill out the Englishman’s sound, making the songs even more addictive.

The fabulous opening track, with Morrison’s smoky, soulful voice, is reminiscent of a Motown song. The UK hit single “You Give Me Something” is reflective and hopeful, with a horn section lifting it to vibrant levels. Less optimistic is the mistitled UK hit “Wonderful World,” a heartbreaking tale of depression and longing: “I know that it’s a wonderful world/But I can’t feel it right now.” The solo-acoustic number “Better Man” is the perfect vehicle for which to show off Morrison’s range.

The balladeer found significant success in Britain. His album went triple platinum (900,000 copies sold) after it was released in the summer of 2006. He was nominated for three Brit Awards at home. He can expect similar success on this side of the pond.
