In addition to making the talk-show rounds, Morrison will play a month’s worth of dates beginning March 16 at Austin, TX’s South by Southwest festival. Details are listed below.Morrison is currently touring the UK, and has another run of Euro show scheduled for June/July.
“Undiscovered” is already a hit in the UK; the set debuted at No. 1 on album charts and has sold more than 1 million copies worldwide on the strength of the singles “You Give Me Something” and “Wonderful World,” according to a bio on Morrison’s website.
Morrison’s success in the UK was recognized last month when he won the Brit Award for Best British Male Solo Artist.
The 22-year-old, who describes his music as “guitar blues and soul,” survived odd jobs as a chambermaid, van washer and a busker playing for crowds of teenage girls before he caught a break.
“It’s how I got experience playing in front of people without getting nervous,” Morrison said in his bio.
A demo CD he recorded with some borrowed equipment fell into the hands of a label rep who promptly got him a deal with Polydor UK.
Sticking to his musical guns, Morrison turned down Hollywood producers who wanted to use his song “The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore” for the motion picture “August Rush” starring Robin Williams, according to his bio. The producers also tried to persuade Morrison to co-star in the movie.
